The following is transcribed from a record on microfilm entitled “Colvins in America” (transcribed February 18-March 10, 2012):
The following pages contain Colvin records collected by several folks interested in the Colvin history. Five different Colvin collections were loaned to me—the largest Manuscript being made by Edward Josiah Colvin 1940. Believing that this collection would never again be altogether . . . I am getting the whole collection mimeographed. While J H Lawrence is a Colvin genealogist I am not—although I am a Colvin descendant—it is my interest in genealogy that prompts me to help print this collection. It is far from complete—but it will be a wonderful help to all working on the Colvin history. I am the author of Mattesons in America. Cordially and Faithfully yours. Porter Matteson.
Note my numbering plan—it is the plan used by a majority and it allows you to always progress to the number in the left edge of margin.

Please Note**I find several versions of ancestry by the different Colvin Genealogiests. E.J. Colvin places Titus and Joseph under Caleb 3 James 2 John 1. And also Joseph 4 under Caleb 3 James 2 John 1. But the Penna Colvins and Josephs family went to Penna. place him difrerently. I believe that EJC is right on Titus and wrong on Joseph. This will be a good means of getting versions.
